Big L & Jay-Z - Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show Freestyle

Ce genre de moment mythique. Hiver 1995. Un show indépendant au top, Stretch et Bobbito aux commandes. Deux rappeurs d’exception. Big L. Jay-Z. Harlem. Brooklyn. Deux MCs encore peu connus, en attente de leur premier album. Le Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous de Big L sortira quelques semaines plus tard, le Reasonable Doubt de Hova sortira l’année suivante. Le freestyle est de haute tenue, très technique, une véritable joute qui restera parmi les plus symptomatiques de cette époque. Il est d’ailleurs amusant de voir que Big L prend l’ascendant sur Jay qui pourtant ne se laisse pas faire. Les rapports de force étaient inversés. Sachant la suite des évènements (la mort tragique de Big L par balle et l’ascension irrésistible de Jay-Z), ce freestyle résonne comme une légende, les derniers échos d’une époque révolue. Apprécie !
